People to People International Šternberk Chapter
This organization was established on April 1, 2004 and it is registered as a civic society since February 17, 2005. Šternberk Chapter is a member of an international organization People to People International (PTPI). The purpose of People to People International is to enhance international understanding and friendship through educational, cultural and humanitarian activities involving the exchange of ideas and experiences directly among peoples of different countries and diverse cultures.
The organization is open to cooperation with other organizations with similar purpose or interests.
People to People International was founded in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. PTPI is divided into smaller groups (chapters), which work all over the world. Tolerance and mutual understanding are its central themes.
Main activities of our chapter:
- working with children, youth, youth and student programs (pen pals, conferences, international exchanges etc.)
- boosting cultural life in our region, social events (theatre performances, concerts and presentations), community events, sport tournaments and events for children
- seminars and training programs
- providing homestay in families all around the world
- supporting work which broadens international cooperation, mutual understanding between people from various countries
- supporting projects of other NGOs
